1. Beamsplitter Test 3 on Flickr.I finally found some time to go out and try the 50/05 beamsplitter glass that I purchased and get some of the results up on flickr. The results are cool but it is very difficult walking around trying to conceptualize shooting in two directions simultaneously. After a 7 mile walk I only had a handful of photos that were interesting.
In regards to a how-to, there is nothing complicated about it. Basically I just hold the glass in front of the lens and move it around until the reflection looks interesting superimposed over the scene from directly in front of the camera. I purchased a 5”x5” square, but I wish I had purchased something a little large as you can see the edges of the glass at anything wider than around 50mm (crop frame). The results look like a double exposure, but they are really just one shot. In regards to editing I pretty much just adjusted the exposure and contrast, nothing more than I would do in another other photograph.
