  3. There are a few odd things about this ConEd spam that was just delivered to my inbox. Least of which is that based on this woman’s facial expression I think there would be a question mark and not a period. Second, who is that guy creating up behind the woman? Maybe he wants to explain LEED to her, but I have a feeling not.

  4. In real life, it had all that … plus ketchup. I accidentally ate a bite of it, and it was like I got punched in the mouth by the demon lord of corn syrup. Barf.
    – A serious Yelp overreaction to the the presence of ketchup in a sandwich. I think someone needs to relax a little bit.

  5. Walk next door to our immediate neighbor to your east, toward 3rd Ave.
Go past their front door which is right next to ours, and walk into the next entrance which is the freight entrance for their building.

There is a buzzer on the freight elevator doors in the back of the entrance space. Buzz that you are looking for Peetie. Of course he may be standing there already, but if not, buzz for him.

Introduce yourself , and let Peetie know that you are working on my fourth floor next door. He knows me, so use my name. I don’t think he knows my last name.
Show Lewie the pallets on the sidewalk and ask him if he can help you out and take them away for you.
Ask what will work for him … $$. … and of course give him cash. On the discrete side, like inside the freight entrance.

    – Email from our super regarding how to dispose of two freight pallets. I changed a few details and names to protect the innocent, but otherwise this is his exact email. Best email of the day.

  6. I get speaker’s fees from time to time, but not very much.
    – Mitt Romney humbly referencing the $374,327.62 in speaker’s fees he earned last year, an average of $41,592 per speech. (via officialssay)

  7. The (not so) “Invisible” Mother. Back in the day when people needed to sit very still to have their photograph taken, shooting antsy children was extremely difficult. Solution? Have their mother hold them, but for some reason put a blanket over her so that she was invisible. Totally creepy.

  10. The 38th Annual “Best of Show” award of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society went to one man (David Imus), who spent two years making a new map of the United States. Slate has an amazing article on the use of design and what made his map so worthy of the award.
